Class 2

Welcome to Class 2

A very warm welcome Class 2's page! laugh

As normal, here you will be able to find information about the upcoming term including our main overarching question and pictures of our learning journey through the year. You will also find our weekly timetable, dates for your diary and useful resources to support your child throughout the year.

The class page will be updated on a regular basis.

The school day begins promptly at 8:45am (access from the main school gate only). Please drop your child off at the side gate (near the Umpha) where they are then able to enter the class corridor through the back door.

Collection will be at 3:15pm from the main school gate.

This term PE will be on a THURSDAY and FRIDAY

Homework

Please ensure your child reads with you as much as possible throughout the week. Reading regularly will help support your child in their written work as well as preparing them for Year 1 Phonic Screening Assessments (June) and Year 2 SATs (May).

Please ensure a comment is written into your child's reading record each time they have read. This will help keep communication consistent between school and home. There is also extra resources in their reading records and on the class page, should you need them.

Each Friday, a list of spellings will be sent home for your child to learn throughout the week. They will then have a small, very relaxed test the following Friday morning. Please check your child's bag/ book bag for their spelling books.

Creative Curriculum

On a Wednesday afternoon, Class 2 will participate in Creative Curriculum. They will experience different activities through out the year as a class, including Cooking, Languages, Forest School and Seasonal Sport (taken by myself). Due to this, please ensure your child has a clearly named PE kit in school, as well as a pair of wellies and waterproof clothing throughout the school year.

Within the first week, your child will know what activity they are participating in. Keep an eye on the class page for the activity information as well.

This Spring term we are doing: PE

Things to remember:

A clearly named PE Kit in school at all times, consisting of;

  • trainers
  • shorts
  • t-shirt
  • jumper
  • joggers
  • socks (plus an extra pair)
  • spare underwear
  • a coat

A pair of named Wellies must also be in school at all times for use up at the field, in Forest School, at the allotment and for any walks we may go on.

Finally, please do not hesitate to contact me should you need to, either via the main office or in person. I am always willing to make time for meetings should you need one. Equally, a short message in your child's Reading Record is another way of communicating with me.

I am very much looking forward to the year ahead and cannot wait to welcome the new members of our class into Year 1 to join the Year 2s. Here's to an exciting, productive and enjoyable year in Class 2.

Best wishes,

Miss Gibbons
