Floorball - Tuesday 25th September 2018

The second group of Cotswold Floorball League matches for 'A' Teams started tonight. Dormer House were hoping to continue their good form from last year and gave the senior team from CCS a difficult time. Ethan scored what proved to be the only goal of the game for CCS, yet it was a reflex save by Andre from the ever dangerous Will which sealed the game in their favour.

It was a similar story against the North Cotswold Federation, where Georgia's lone goal gave CCS the points. Temple Guiting were under constant pressure in the game against CCS, who finally forced a goal when Oscar Salter netted. Unfortunately a slip in the CCS defence gave Temple Guiting a rare chance which Jack converted to earn a draw.

Dormer House ended the day on top of the qualifying table after a 1-0 win over The Federation and a 2-1 victory against Temple Guiting. Will was the scorer in the first game. Cameron Farrell made the best of his chances in the second match, putting his side ahead twice either side of Ben's strike for Temple Guiting.

The Federation took full points against Temple Guiting. Alfie opened the scoring for NCSF, but Murray again equalised. With time expiring Harry scored the winner from a fine angle.

The day finished with a friendly in which a mixed CCS/Temple Guiting team beat Dormer House 4-2. The losers played very well against a team which, unknown to them, included a former Great Britain senior player (although he was a goalkeeper) and two of the team which won the UK U-13 Championship in June.

Year 6 and below cricket at Cirencester Cricket Club

A wonderful team effort for the Federation Girls team finishing second in our group and narrowly missing out on a semi final place by 20 runs. Well done to all involved.

23.1.2018 Floorball Report

The Cotswold Floorball League's 'A' Team competition is down to the last six. On 6th March holders Dormer House and North Cotswold Federation will join Ilmington, St Catharines, Temple Guiting and St James & Ebrington in the final set of play off matches. The top two teams at that stage will contest the final, later in the year.

St Davids started the day in pole position with two wins counting from earlier matches. They played the Moreton derby against Dormer House winning with a single strike by Joe Winder from a free hit. Unfortunately, they were caught cold by Sedgeberrow, who also won by a single Tom Crawford goal. St Davids had a power play in the final minutes, but were kept out by fine defensive play from goalkeeper Zak Freeman and his backs. NCSF also forced a win against St Davids, courtesy of two Jamie Fowler goals.

NCSF had a great evening with three more wins to top the play off table. They opened the scoring against Sedgeberrow when Jacob Brewerton tucked the ball home from a melee in front of goal. The Federation almost immediately lost a player to the sin bin, allowing Crawford to level. Brewerton, Fowler and Brewerton again sealed the 4-1 victory. This fine form continued against Blockley, Noah Custard's opener being followed by Brewerton's brace in a 3-0 win. Not even two losses to the sin bin could prevent the win. Mickleton were the one team which caused NCSF some trouble. Tilly Walker did some great work, hitting the post and having shots save, which allowed Sam Meddins-Fawden to put Mickleton ahead on the rebound. NCSF knew that attacking straight from the face off was a good time to equalise and did so admirably through Noah Custard. Custard then made it 2-1 and Brewerton enhanced his tally to make it 3-1 at the final whistle.

Blockley earned a hard won 1-0 victory against Mickleton, Ebony Dean-Brown giving them the early lead. Mickleton lessened their chances when two players were sent to the penalty box, yet finished the game stronger and were only denied a point by Andre Jeffrey' fine last second save. Mickleton did salvage pride when they defeated Sedgeberrow 2-0, Adam Bird and Tilly Walker the scorers.

These results left the holders, Dormer House, in danger of losing their title, but they rallied with three wins. Finlay Holland-Bird scored both goals in a 2-0 against Sedgeberrow. Maisie Smith scored the only goal against Blockley after another mad flurry in the goal mouth. Blockley nearly levelled when fine work by Dean-Brown gifted Max Bolam an almost open goal, only for Will Droy to somehow save the shot. Holland-Bird's hat trick laid the foundations for victory against Mickleton, Maisie Smith adding the fourth before Walker pulled back a consolation for Mickleton.

The last two sets of play offs leave 7th to 14th places decided as follows:

Sedgeberrow, the only first school in the league, only just avoided being regarded as too good to defend their 'B' Team title.

Gymnastics 9.1.2018

Four children from the Longborough and Cold Aston represented the NCSF at the Intermediate Gymnastics competition this month. What a delight it was to see them perform flowing floor moves and energetic vault jumps. All four girls made us very proud and we were delighted that they entered! Well done!
